Some Snapshots from New York Comic Con 2017
New York Comic Con has come and gone again this year. Several members of the USS Henry Hudson made the trek to NYC and the Javits Center to squeeze ourselves into the chaos of nerdom and it was just as awesome as every other year. We each attended with our own group of friends and met up at random times throughout the weekend. Krystina M. joined my friends for two days of exploring and meeting guests. Claire V. and I caught up for a few minutes on the showroom floor before she left for the day. Joe S., and a friend, Simone, we’d met the previous weekend at Continuing Voyage Con, wandered the rest of the con with me before we continued on to a Star Trek meetup at O’Lunney’s for fun, dinner, and drinks.
A friend of mine couldn’t get to William Shatner’s autograph line because he was stuck in Billie Piper’s photo line. I jumped in the line in his place alongside Krystina, where we met new friends. Now Shatner is a sign-and-go kind of guy. His long line takes less than thirty minutes to get through. Just after he signed the poster for my friend, I made a quick mention of the club and showed my button, then pointed to Krystina next to me. Shatner stopped the line to speak to us for several minutes about his plan to revitalize the fanclub and wanting help especially from others around our age. He ended the conversation with “email me, email me soon so we can talk”. How could this have not been just an amazing weekend!
