Farewell to Two Sci-Fi Legends

RICHARD ANDERSON August 8, 1926 – August 31, 2017 Richard Anderson, 91.  Actor, appeared in many films and TV shows over the years.  No stranger to science-fiction, he played Chief Engineer Quinn in the 1956 film “Forbidden Planet.”  However, he was perhaps best known for his TV role as Oscar Goldman, the boss of Steve Austin (Lee Majors) and Jaime Sommers (Lindsay Wagner) in both “The Six Million Dollar Man” and “The Bionic Woman” TV franchises.

MARTIN LANDAU June 20, 1928 – July 15, 2017 Martin Landau, 89.  Actor, known to TV/SF fans for “Mission: Impossible” and “Space: 1999.”  Won Oscar for playing aged Bela Lugosi in “Ed Wood.”  Landau was reportedly Gene Roddenberry’s first choice for Mr. Spock, but he opted for “Mission,” and so, Leonard Nimoy ended up with the role.  Married actress and former co-star Barbara Bain in 1957.  Both appeared in “Mission: Impossible” and “Space:1999.”  They divorced in 1993.
